The Pakakayo hill-tribe people have passed down a legend for generations about Kachueku, or the Heart of the Earth, a place said to remain untouched when the world is submerged. However, in reality, the Pakakayo people of Bang Kloi continue to face discrimination from authorities, disrupting their deeply rooted traditional way of life.

Pattaraporn Sritongtae director of the documentary film ‘AFTER’, currently serves as editor of Decode.plus, an online media platform under Thai Public Broadcasting Service (ThaiPBS) dedicated to fostering meaningful change. Decode.plus is committed to addressing social issues by exploring innovative solutions through well-curated projects, thought-provoking conversations, and challenging questions, all aimed at inspiring collective action.
Pattaraporn's 16-year career in journalism began as an Economic Reporter for Public Company. She later worked on media law reform for the Law Reform Commission of Thailand before initiating a new genre of journalism at ThaiPBS known as Backpack Journalist.
A Backpack Journalist is a versatile, one-man journalist responsible for all aspects of news production—from research, field filming, and interviews to scriptwriting, editing, and even administrative and financial tasks. This role also includes managing online interactive communications for the news program "Backpack Journalist", which covers various social issues in Thailand and the Southeast Asia region.
Pattaraporn has a keen interest in topics such as economic inequality, competition for environmental resources, and the influence of China in ASEAN. In 2017, she became the first Thai journalist and producer to receive the top international micro-documentary award. Her micro-documentary, “Knocking at Your Door,” was the only entry from Thailand selected for screening at the International Documentary Festival in China.vv
