United States Presidential Election and Climate Change

This news story includes the following topics:

·      Climate Change

·      Politics

There is a major and important election in the United States on 5 November 2024.  The United States will elect a new President.  The two major party candidates are Kamala Harris (Democrat) and Donald Trump (Republican).  There are many policy and personal differences between the two candidates.  A major difference is their positions on climate change.

Numerous times Donald Trump has called climate change a “hoax” and when he was President before, he stopped many of the efforts to combat climate change in the United States.  He has said “The oceans are going to rise one-eighth of an inch (.32 cm) over the next 300 years, and we will have more beachfront property, that’s not the worst thing in the world.”  Of course, all of what he said about climate change is false.

Kamala Harris understands the threat climate change brings and has worked hard during the Biden administration as Vice President to create and implement policy and programs to combat climate change.

Whoever is elected President of the United States on 5 November 2024 will have a major impact on how the U.S. addresses climate change.  This will have a world-wide impact as well.

The story and the video provides a summary of where Kamala Harris and Donald Trump stand on climate change.
